Manage how you see what you've got

CytoGenie 4.0 lets you create, save and share online* all the different ways you want to view your data, whether reagent inventories, instrument configurations, stain sets, protocols, or tables, labels and keywords.  Bring to the forefront the different characteristics you want to study.  See the forest.  See the trees.  See any section of the trees you want, moving from one view to the others with only a couple of mouse clicks.

* You will need our CytoGenie Lab version to enjoy online sharing.  CytoGenie Basic and CytoGenie Pro do not have this capability.

activate_option_menu.pngThe tools to manage your data are part of our rapidly developing Splice and dice™ technology: you'll find them right at hand on any relevant mass of data.  Right click anywhere on the data field or click the double downward arrow at the top right of the field.

options_menu_blue_arrows.png An options menu will appear.  We've inserted blue arrows to point out the individual tools that let you create and save your trees, tables, columns, rows, and entire views.

Trees & tables

tree_example_1.pngThe Tree tool lets you quickly organize your data into various hierarchies by selecting and sequencing columns in the underlying table.  As the screenshot to the left shows, our Spice and dice technology automatically supplies the root, which is the base of any tree. The superscript numbers tell you how many items each level displays. Click any of the + signs to open the tree.

tree_example_2.pngBeside the root, the tree at the left has four levels or branches – Type, Epitope, Color/conjugate, and Catalog no.  Each represents a column in the underlying table.

tree_example_3.png Click any level or branch to highlight it in the table that accompanies the tree.

tree_buttons.pngTo create this hierarchy for yourself, click the Catalog tree or Tree button.  Alternatively, you can right-click to activate the Options menu.  Then click Tree

The Custom tree builder will appear.  Click the arrow to view the drop-down Column list.  Click & drag the scroll bar to find the column name you want.  Click it.  Click Add

Repeat the process.  Each time you add the next level down in your hierarchy.  You may create as many levels as you want.

remove.png At any point in creating a tree, you can easily remove a level that you previously entered.  Click to re-select the entry on the drop-down Column list.  Click Remove.  To change the sequence of your levels, click Start fresh again and start over with the Custom tree builder.

The Sort/arrange columns window also gives you an alternative way to create a tree by choosing which columns to sort and the order in which to sort them.

In addition, you can determine whether you want the columns to sort in descending rather than ascending order, and you can rearrange the sequence in which the columns will appear.  Click the colum names you wish to move.  Then click the up and down arrows to move the columns left or right when they appear in a table.
