QuickStart – How to master the magic
Start where you will and create your own workflow. Or, move from left to right, clicking your way along the big buttons on the Wizard Bar. CytoGenie will tell you if you need to finish one task before starting another.
To see your options anywhere in CytoGenie, click the closest Downward options arrow. Alternatively, you can right-click on the relevant table, field, or grid.
Click to activate buttons and tabs. Click to highlight cells, rows, and columns in a table. As you click, the options available to you will continually change.
CytoGenie displays data in both tables and trees. Click the Tree button or the Tree command on the options menu to create the tree or to find the command to return to Table view.
Click to check Edit in place on the options menu to enter or modify information directly in a table. Click to uncheck Edit in place to use a separate data entry form.
Hold down the SHIFT key as you click to select or highlight contiguous rows in a table. Or, click and then drag the cursor down the rows.
Hold down the CTRL key as you click to highlight separated rows or any group of columns.
When a possible choice on a pick tree or table turns gray, it has become unavailable. CytoGenie knows it will not work with the choices you have already made.
Red borders around a cell or grid tells you to provide information or make a correction. Alternatively, the red-bordered Problem? or Warning buttons may appear. Click them to see the possible problem.
Green borders indicate a lesser problem, such as your entry of a non-uniform spelling, the need to buy a reagent to carry out your experiment, or a potentially troublesome spectral overlap between two or more reagents.
Help is always at hand. Just click the Help button on any CytoGenie window. Then click Help for this location and follow the multi-tiered links in the vertical navigation bar on our website, where the full user guide now lives.
If you do not find an answer, click Ask the Genie Online to reach our help desk.
