Enter your new reagents lots
On the opening screen, click Reagents. Ask the Genie Online
Your Reagents window will appear. It will likely look different from the one below, depending on previous entries. Click the Downward options arrow.
An Options menu will pop up. If Edit in place is unchecked, leave it. If it has a check mark, click to uncheck it.
Click New.
The New reagent lot window will appear. Click the type of reagent you wish to enter. In most cases, you will start with Antibody-dye.
A Data entry form will appear. You must fill in all the blanks bordered in red. Other blanks are optional. They add useful information and help you control your reagent inventory. You may fill them in later if you wish.
The order of the blanks on the left may differ depending on other settings in the program. Go first to Determinant/epitope and click the drop-down arrow. A list will appear. Click and drag the scroll bar to find the entry you want. Click it.
CytoGenie will display your pick in the Determinant/epitope box and will often fill in the box for Determinant AKA (“also known as”). Click the arrow in the Color/conjugate box. The list will drop down. Click and drag the scroll bar to view the entry you want. Click the row.
CytoGenie will display your pick in the Color/conjugate box. Click the drop-down arrow in the Antibody clone box. A list will appear. In this case, the list has no entries.
For the selected Determinant/epitope, CytoGenie can find no antibody clone from a mouse, which is the default setting for Ag source species. Go to Ag source species, click the drop-down arrow and click Human as your antigen source.
CytoGenie will now display Human in place of Mouse. Return to Antibody clone and click the drop-down arrow. The list will now display the possible choices, in this case only one. Click it.
CytoGenie will now display your pick in the Antibody clone box. Go to the Lot ID box and enter a number, which confirms that you actually have the reagent in your inventory. If you leave the box blank, CytoGenie will treat the entry as a virtual reagent and offer you a temporary key. Click Done.
The New reagent lot window will reappear. Repeat the steps above for whichever type of reagent you wish to enter.
When you’ve finished your entries, close the New reagent lot window and return to the main Reagents window, where you will see your entries after refreshing the screen. You may edit any of your own entries. Just click it
